I am in business!

July 29, 2011

Well, it is official! I got my State of Alaska business license today! Alaska Phoenix is officially ready to roll out and do Fabulous Facepainting, Beautiful Balloons, and Super Science at special events all over Alaska!

I hadn't planned on getting the business license today, but when I walked into Wells Fargo today, Raven, the manager of the North Pole Branch, did all the paperwork for my business license and my business savings and checking accounts in less than an hour. It was great! I really recommend Wells Fargo as a bank that does business like the neighborhood banks in the past used to do business.

Anyway, I am going to be at Pioneer Park this Wednesday afternoon to do Almost Free Facepainting. It is Almost Free because I do want something in return. I am going to ask for a release to use pictures of the face painting in my promotional materials. So if you don't mind me using a picture of you or your children in my facepainting books, flyers, and website, come on over to Pioneer Park this Wednesday.

A home for the classroom

As many of you know, I have been wanting to teach Science from my home, but haven't had the space.Well, we now have been blessed with a house where I can teach Science... eventually. We have a lot of work to do, and we still have to budget to finish the floors above it AND figure out what our first year as homeowners in Alaska is going to cost, but I have faith that God will work wonders if we are good caretakers of this place.
That dark hole will be the future classroom.

Well, there is a work table, and a spot for a window...

The one and only window in the future classroom

Still a lot of work to do!

We will begin working on it this month, and hope to have it all closed in before August, then comes the fun part. I hope to find the actual tables and chairs on Craig's List, at Value Village and The Bargin Bin, and through some friends. If you have an extra school desk or a table and chairs you are ready to toss, give me a call, an e-mail, or a private Facebook message. I am sure I can put it to good use!
